Welcome to Marquette University Law School

Marquette Law School strives to provide an educational experience that emphasizes personal growth, community engagement, and pro bono service. From our Catholic, Jesuit identity, to our award-winning building [Eckstein Hall], and our supportive community, Marquette law students come from across the nation to join us for an exciting and fulfilling experience.

We hope to give you a sense of what to expect at Marquette Law School, and we hope you like what you see!

Greetings. My name is Joseph Kearney, and it's my privilege to serve as Dean of Marquette University Law School here in Milwaukee. We have so many wonderful things to offer here, some of them are right here in Eckstein Hall, which is our magnificent home since 2010. They include, to be sure, our faculty, but also our students. The community of Marquette Law students is a wonderfully mutually supportive group, and we very much hope that you will consider not just this extraordinary building, but also the people with whom you would spend time.

Marquette University is the only law school in Milwaukee which presents an awesome opportunity to be able to get really involved in this community. I think it ties really nicely into our Jesuit values as well. Namely, we're able to invest in our community through pro bono service right during your 1L year, which is a fantastic opportunity, not only to get exposure to working in the law, working in the real law, right when you're a 1L, but also it helps to start to build those community connections and networks.

So, at Marquette, our motto is "cura personalis," which means care for the whole person. It's a Latin phrase, and you feel it when you walk through the doors. Marquette isn't just a place of study, it's a community. When you step through the doors of Marquette, you set goals for yourself, and the community works together to help you achieve those goals.
