MILWAUKEE — A WONDERFUL PLACE TO WORK

    • Milwaukee’s law school: Marquette is the only law school in a metropolitan area of substantial size, and Marquette law students are well-positioned for internships, networking, and job placement.

    • Law firms: Opportunities abound to work at law firms of all sizes and types—local, regional, and national.

    • Government opportunities: Federal, state, and local government entities offer our students and alumni opportunities to work at multiple levels.

    • Thriving public interest community: Whether your goal is to participate in pro bono work to complement your practice or to make a career out of public interest law, Milwaukee has a plethora of offerings.

    • Networking: Chances are that you will work with or for our alumni. Marquette lawyers are known to give back to our community in many ways, especially in mentoring and hiring our students.

You're going to find, as a student enrolled at Marquette, that the city of Milwaukee is going to offer you fantastic opportunities in its legal community, and that's going to be regardless of what areas of law you're interested in practicing.

There's really every opportunity available to you. I'm personally interested in litigation, and I've been able to find summer associate positions. I have friends and colleagues who are interested in more transactional work, even sports law. There's really no door closed to you here.

Because we are a large urban community, and Marquette is the only law school in this community, as a student coming to Marquette, you're going to have opportunities to work at law firms of all sizes. Also, we have a really vibrant legal community of government entities, local, state and federal options. And we also have a thriving public interest community here.

A lot of the attorneys here, they're going to know Marquette Law School, and more likely, they're going to have gone to Marquette Law School. So, it's a very tight knit, like, networking community and everything like that, and there's a lot of networking events. For me, at least, being in an area that's not overly saturated with law schools, it was really helpful to just kind of find a group of attorneys who know Marquette and know what a Marquette student is like.

As a sports law candidate, it was really important for me to find a place that I could explore my interests in sports and having Milwaukee with so many different teams and so many different opportunities to get involved and so many people to meet and network with. Marquette, kind of was the perfect decision, and Milwaukee, in turn, also became the perfect place for me to be to explore those various interests.
